From 2004 to 2008 I was art director of the HSM sports design team. SA Cricket was one of the sports magazines under my direction. Primary tasks included art direction, cover and editorial layout design, design sign-off, design staff management and budget management.

Below is a selection of covers and DPS layouts from 2004 to 2008. I was art director and head of a design team of 4 that worked on a number of sports titles including SA Cricket. SA Cricket is a cricket only publication printed in South Africa and distributed locally and abroad. The cover and cover stories are primarily commissioned portrait photo shoots of the players. SA Cricket, and it's brother title SA Rugby, was re-designed in August 2006 and given the look and feel it retains to this day.

SA Cricket (along with it's big brother title, SA Rugby) underwent a complete redesign in August 2006.This is an example of the old cover look.
